Online Assessment Awareness Courses

This resource was created for students and educators in Michigan as a means to help raise awareness of the mechanics and planning necessary for administering Michigan's online state assessments (beginning with M-STEP in 2015).

Vision

Students demonstrate the ability to successfully navigate technology enhanced online assessments and teachers/administrators value the importance of professional development in how to incorporate online learning/assessments in their instruction so that students are prepared to take high stake online assessments.

Goals

Audience: Educators (teachers and administrators)
  • By February 1, 2015 create and deploy a short self-directed online course for Michigan teachers/educators that  promotes the importance of integrating online learning strategies and assessment into classroom instruction in order to prepare students for technology enhanced online state assessments.
  • Educators will be introduced to technology enhanced online assessment items, creating familiarity in the online environment in preparation for high-stakes assessments.
  • Enrollment in professional development opportunities such as blended learning, administering online assessments, and using 21st century skills in the classroom will increase by 20% in 2015 as a result of educators taking the online course and seeing the value of online learning strategies and assessments in their instruction.

Audience: Students
  • By February 1, 2015 create and deploy a short self-directed online course for Michigan students that provides experiences in taking technology enhanced online assessment items, including reviewing the skills necessary to successfully navigate an online assessment with those types of items.
