Devices
M-STEP will be accessible on a variety of devices, including desktop and laptop computers, as well as Chromebooks and iPads. For specific information on device requirements, visit the Technology Readiness Infrastructure Grant's (TRIG) website.
Michigan continues to offer paper/pencil options for those schools that have not been able to meet the technology requirements for online testing during the Spring 2015 testing window.
*Note that an external keyboard is required for M-STEP testing when using an iPad.
Skills
Students must be able to navigate the online assessments. Experiences for students should be provided ahead of the actual state assessment by incorporating blended/online learning into instructional practice that includes technology enhanced creation, simulation and assessment.
Here is a checklist of the technology skills for students at various grade level bands. This checklist is intended for classroom technology skills and not just M-STEP online assessment skills. It is suggested that you use this document as a formative assessment tool for each student. Feel free to make a copy of the checklist to be able to edit for future use.
